'The Artist' became the first silent film to win the best picture Oscar Award.

'A Separation' is the first Iranian film to win an Oscar. The film won the Oscar for the best foreign language film.

'Saving Face' is the first Pakistani film to win an Oscar. The film won the Oscar for the best documentary short film.

Christopher Plummer became the oldest actor to ever win an Oscar Award. He is 82 years old. He won the Award for the best supporting actor for his role in in the film 'Beginners'.

Jean Dujardin is the first Frenchman to win a best actor Oscar. He won the Award for the film, 'The Artist'.

"Kodak name banished from this year's Oscar telecast" :
The Oscar Award auditorium and venue have been known as the Kodak Theatre since 2002, as part of a 20-year deal made in 2000 for naming rights. As the Eastman Kodak Company filed for bankruptcy recently, the name Kodak will not be mentioned in the Oscars anymore. The venue is now referred to as the “Hollywood and Highland Center”.

The well-known former actress Dolores Hart attended the 2012 Oscar Award ceremony.
